- מְסִיפָסm. (= מסיפסף; סוּף; cmp. פְּסִיפָּס, פִּסְפָּס with which our w. interchanges) border-mark, partition consisting of wooden or stone pegs, contrad. to מחיצה or כותל partition wall. Erub.72a (Ms. O. twice פּסיפס, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 10), opp. to מחיצה עשרה a partition ten hand-breadths high. B. Bath.2b במ׳ בעלמא (Ms. M. בפְסִיסִין, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) where there are only pegs as border marks, opp. כותל. Ib. bot. במ׳ (Ms. M. פס׳, emended מס׳). Ab. Zar.70b; Y. ib. V, 44d bot. חצר החלוקה במ׳ a court which is divided off by mere marks (cmp. מְסוּגִין). Tosef.Sabb. VIII (IX), 22 (read:) כדי לעשותו מ׳) Var. ed. Zuck.
